Day Three – Wanganui to Wellington (cont)

Next stop Foxton where we found a wonderful Windmill that had been erected by the Dutch community there.

While we were looking around the old All Saints Anglican Church a lady asked us if we’d like to look through the church and inside we found these lovely stained glass windows that had been covered up outside by perspex to keep them safe from vandals, it was also lovely to see the old organ which was still in working order, and amazingly the roof didn’t cave in when we stepped inside the door!

Next stop Waitarere Beach for lunch and while we were there this caravan rocked up and backed up the sand and parked right in front of us, why we wondered when the beach went on as far as the eye could see on either side of us! We soon found out when out stepped the local surf life savers who proceeded to set up for the Sunday rush of swimmers & surfers!

Finally … Welcome to Wellington!

Currently updating the blog while we’re between islands on board the Bluebridge Ferry ‘Straitsman’, where it just cost me $13 for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc! We were so shocked that she felt sorry for us and filled the glass up, now I’m tipsy, but not seasick thank goodness. Time for a short nana nap….
